A red wine from Varvaglione in southern Italy, made from Malvasia Nera and bottled at 12.5% ABV. It has an intense, deep red colour.
The nose shows ripe red fruit with spicy accents and a light vanilla note from wood ageing. On the palate it is soft and balanced, with well-integrated tannins and notes of cherry, blackberry, plum, chocolate and tobacco. The finish is persistent and harmonious.
It suits robust Mediterranean dishes, lamb, roasts and aged cheeses.
