Very Old Barton 80 Proof is a Kentucky straight bourbon, bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is made at the Barton distillery in Bardstown, Kentucky, which has been producing bourbon since 1879.
The mashbill is roughly 75% corn, 15% rye and 10% malted barley, and the bourbon is a blend aged for around four to six years in new charred American oak barrels.
The nose is lean and woody, with caramel corn, a little vanilla and light grain. The palate is firm and medium-bodied, with dry wood and toasted grain, and corn sweetness under light rye spice. The finish is dry and warm, with oak tannins and clean cereal.
