Virgo I is a Highland single malt from Scotch Universe, an independent range whose bottlings are named after celestial phenomena. Distilled in 2014 and bottled in 2022, it is eight years old, having spent 99 months in a first fill Oloroso sherry hogshead. The distillery behind it was founded in 1874. It is bottled at 55.4% in a 70cl bottle.
The nose is dark and sweet, with chocolate mousse and ground nuts leading into malt. The palate is creamy and soft, with walnut, dark chocolate and a touch of liquorice. The finish is medium in length, soft, warm and creamy-sweet, with nutty milk chocolate.
