A bottle of W & A Gilbey whisky recovered from the wreck of the SS Politician, the ship that ran aground off Eriskay in February 1941 and later inspired the novel and film Whisky Galore. The bottle dates from before the 1940s. It was found by the diver Robert Pitblado, who was commissioned to explore the wreck in 1980 and sealed the bottle to stop the fill level dropping further. It comes with a letter from Mr Pitblado, a copy of a magazine article and a USB stick of news footage. The whisky is not fit for consumption.

About Glenbotal

The idea of Glenbotal came to us naturally: as whisky lovers, we were always on the lookout for new experiences in the whisky world. That’s why we created Glenbotal and became our very own first customers. We buy unique and hard to find spirits from ballots and private collections. Then, we share them with a small circle of friends and people who can appreciate a good dram.
