Watt Whisky Craigellachie 2016 6 Year Old (70cl, 58.1%)

This is a Speyside single malt from Craigellachie, selected by Watt Whisky. It was distilled in 2016 and bottled in 2022 after six years in a sherry butt, at 58.1% in a 70cl bottle. The outturn was 517 bottles. The robust, full-bodied Craigellachie style comes through clearly, and the alcohol stays well controlled despite the strength. The sherry butt shows most towards the finish, which is not an overly sweet one. The nose is malty and cereal-like, with sweet fruit and sherry. The palate is firm and full, with raw malt, grains, caramel and fruit. The finish brings drier wood and slightly oxidative sherry notes.
