Croftengea comes from Loch Lomond Distillery, and this bottling was selected by the independent bottler Watt Whisky. It was distilled in 2017, matured for six years in a barrel and bottled in 2023 at 57.1%.
It is a single cask, cask strength release of 252 bottles, with no added colouring and no chill-filtration. A drop of water softens it and lets the aromas open up more slowly.
The nose offers coal dust, light smoke and straw, with pear and grenadine. The palate is smoky and slightly oily, with ash, lime, charcoal and grilled pineapple. The finish is medium to long, with dry peat smoke, soot, a touch of iodine and spice.
