The Cheshire Seaside Special Release is an English single malt from Weetwood Distillery, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It was inspired by longer days and the salty air of the seaside, and is a lighter expression.
The whisky was matured in single-use ex-bourbon American oak quarter casks that were shaved, toasted and re-charred, then finished in single-use casks that previously held Islay whisky. The release runs to 891 bottles.
The nose offers subtle smoke, sweet cherries and meadow hay, and the palate balances light peat smoke with caramel and citrus. The finish is lasting and mellow, with vanilla and toasted marshmallow.
