Westland – Peated American Single Malt Whiskey

Westland Peated is an American single malt from Westland Distillery in Seattle. It combines peated malt from Scotland with the distillery's five-malt barley bill of Washington Select Pale, Munich, Extra Special, Pale Chocolate and Brown malts, fermented with Belgian brewer's yeast. The spirit spent a minimum of 24 months in new American oak and first-fill ex-bourbon barrels. On the nose, smoke and sweetness meet pear, marzipan, milk chocolate and charred brown sugar. The palate turns smokier, with black pepper, allspice, cloves, smoked paprika and leather. The finish is medium-long, with lingering smoke and earthy spice.
