Serpent's Ember is Batch 3 in the Whisky of Voodoo range from independent bottler Brave New Spirits. It is an 11 year old Blair Athol single malt from Pitlochry, bottled at 53.2% without chill-filtering or added colour.
Brave New Spirits married whisky from first-fill rum hogsheads and second-fill Islay hogsheads. Malty, sweet and fruity notes sit alongside pepper, spicy oak and a restrained note of smoke.
Butterscotch, honey, ripe peach and vanilla come through on the nose, with a faint smoky edge. The palate is full of malt and sweet caramel, with peach, vanilla, pepper and smoke woven in. The long finish is oak-led and spicy, fading into campfire smoke.
