An 8 year old German whisky from distiller Ralf Hauer, distilled in 2014 and bottled by Whisky Sponge as Edition 73B. It matured in first-fill bourbon barrels in Germany, then moved to the UK for bottling in a 70cl bottle at 57.1%, reduced by a few degrees to let the distillate character come through.
The malt was smoked over beechwood. The whisky is described as peaty, with a deeply herbal and medicinal smokiness, plenty of power and complexity, and a decidedly Scottish accent.
