This is Caduro Cask Strength from White Peak Distillery in England, part of the Wire Works range and a development of the core Caduro whisky. It is a vatting of first fill STR casks, which are reconditioned wine barriques, and ex-bourbon barrels, in American and French oak. The vatting then spent 18 months marrying in cask before bottling at 58%, with natural colour and no chill filtration. The outturn was 898 bottles.
The nose runs from pear drops, baked apple and orange zest to fudge, marzipan and popcorn. Marmalade, treacle tart, liquorice all-sorts and tobacco mark the palate, and the finish brings bonfire toffee, citrus, cinnamon and a wisp of smoke.
