Widow Jane – Lucky 13 2023

Lucky 13 is a bourbon from Widow Jane, aged for a minimum of thirteen years and released here as the 2023 edition. It is non-chill-filtered and proofed with limestone mineral water from the Rosendale Mines of New York. The barrels aged in the brand's rick house in Red Hook, Brooklyn, where changing temperature and humidity and the position of each barrel led to subtle differences in flavour. Each release is a very small batch of little more than a handful of barrels. The nose offers vanilla bean, Earl Grey tea, caramel and sweet tobacco. Pecan pie, whole grain toast and grapefruit peel lead the palate, and the finish brings nutmeg, birch beer and dry oak tannin.
