Widow Jane – Lucky Thirteen 13 Year Old Straight Bourbon (75cl, 46.5%)

Lucky Thirteen is a straight bourbon from Widow Jane, aged for a minimum of thirteen years and bottled at 46.5% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It is non-chill filtered. The barrels matured in the distillery's rick house in Red Hook, Brooklyn, where changing temperature and humidity and the position of each barrel brought subtle differences between them. Each batch is very small, little more than a handful of barrels, and the whiskey is brought down to strength with limestone mineral water from the Rosendale Mines. The nose offers vanilla bean, Earl Grey tea, caramel and sweet tobacco. On the palate come pecan pie, whole grain toast and grapefruit peel, followed by nutmeg, birch beer and dry oak tannin in the finish.
