Widow Jane – Rye Mash American Oak Aged

Widow Jane Rye Mash is an American rye whiskey matured in once-used bourbon barrels, with fresh-cut oak staves added to the casks. The barrels are 10 years old, and the aim was to round out the rye distillate with light oak rather than heavy wood. Rye comes off the still sweet, grassy and floral, and the spicy character usually associated with it comes from the barrel. It is described as a light, tropical rye for summer, and it works well in cocktails. A good bitter, a splash of vermouth or some ginger beer all suit it.
