Widow Jane – Rye Mash Apple Wood Aged (70cl, 45.5%)

Widow Jane Rye Mash Apple Wood Aged is a rye whiskey from Brooklyn, bottled at 45.5% in a 70cl bottle as Batch 39. It is made from a rye mash and matured in ex-bourbon barrels, then refined with oak and apple wood staves. The water comes from the Widow Jane Mine in Rosendale, filtered through limestone caves. The nose is spicy and sweet, with cider and baked doughnuts and a little smoke. The palate balances bitter-sweet smoke with subtle anise from the apple wood, and the medium-length finish carries the sweetness of demerara sugar.
