Widow's Cove is an 11 year old Caol Ila from Islay, bottled by Brave New Spirits for Series 4 of its WhiskyHeroes range. It was finished in a first fill Fino sherry hogshead and bottled at a cask strength of 50.4%.
Caol Ila was founded in 1846 and takes its name from the Sound of Islay, the strait beside it. It is the largest distillery on the island.
Tasting notes describe heather honey and a herbal character, with soft, sweet peat and an earthy finish.
