Wild Turkey 101 is a Kentucky straight bourbon bottled at 101 proof (50.5% ABV), here in a 375ml bottle. It comes from the Wild Turkey Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky.
It is double-distilled and aged in new American white oak barrels with a heavy number 4 char. The mashbill is 75% corn, 13% rye and 12% malted barley. The bourbon leaves the barrel at about 109 proof and is only slightly diluted for bottling.
The nose is fresh cream, buttered toast, pecan pie and clove. The palate begins with vanilla and toffee, then nutmeg, cinnamon and orange zest. The finish is long, with gentle chilli heat, maple and dried orange peel.
