Wild Turkey – 101 Bourbon (175cl, 50.5%)

Wild Turkey 101 is a bourbon bottled at 50.5%, or 101 proof, in a 1.75 litre bottle. It is aged for at least six years, drawn from the barrel at 109 proof and reduced only slightly before bottling. Wild Turkey barrels its whiskey at a lower entry proof, which lets more flavour come through from the mash bill of corn, rye and malted barley. The nose is fairly subdued, with toffee sweetness, toasty oak, melted vanilla ice cream, a touch of citrus and butterscotch. The palate is full and rich, with cigar box, pepper, caramel and honey on buttered granary toast. The finish is long, with spice and toast.
