This is Wild Turkey 101, a Kentucky straight rye whiskey from the Wild Turkey Distillery. It is bottled at 101 proof, which is 50.5% ABV, in a 1 litre bottle, without added colour.
The mash has a high proportion of rye, and the whiskey matures for several years in heavily charred American oak.
The nose brings spice, vanilla and lightly toasted oak, with hints of citrus and black pepper. The palate is full and powerful, with rye spice, caramel, honey, vanilla and a touch of fresh herbs. The finish is long, warm and spicy, with oak, pepper and a fine sweetness.
