Wild Turkey Rare Breed is a barrel proof Kentucky straight bourbon, first released in 1991 by Master Distillers Jimmy and Eddie Russell. This is the 112.8 proof batch (56.4% ABV), bottled uncut and non-chill-filtered in a 750ml bottle.
It marries bourbons of 6, 8 and 12 years from new charred American oak, made to a mash bill of 75% corn, 13% rye and 12% malted barley at the Lawrenceburg distillery.
The nose is caramel, vanilla, toasted oak and honey with orange zest and a touch of mint. The palate is full, with sweet corn, dark caramel, leather and building rye spice. The finish is long and warming, with oak, baking spice, vanilla and toffee.
