Wild Turkey Rare Breed is a barrel proof Kentucky straight bourbon, introduced in 1991. It is a blend of 6, 8 and 12-year-old barrels chosen by master distiller Jimmy Russell, bottled at 116.8 proof (58.4%) with no water added and no chill filtering.
The mashbill is 75% corn, 13% rye and 12% malted barley, and the bourbon is aged in new American white oak with the deepest alligator char. It comes in a 750ml bottle.
The nose is warm caramel, toasted vanilla, orange peel and charred oak, with baking spice. Dense toffee and brown sugar lead on the palate into cracked pepper, cinnamon and bold oak, with an oily texture. The finish is long, with spice, dark sweetness and dry oak.
