Wild Turkey Rare Breed Barrel Proof is a Kentucky straight rye whiskey from the distillery at Lawrenceburg. It is bottled at 56.1% (112.2 proof) in a 750ml bottle, non chill filtered, with the strength varying from batch to batch.
The label carries the signature of master distiller Jimmy Russell. Wild Turkey's house style is a low barrel entry proof and heavy char.
The nose is vanilla, toffee and dark fruit with rye spice, mint and toasted oak. The palate is thick and oily, opening sweet with caramel and vanilla before black pepper, clove and dry herbal rye arrive. The finish is long and dry, with spice, char and oak tannin.
