Wolfburn – 10 Year Old Sherry Cask (70cl, 46%)

Wolfburn 10 Year Old is a single malt from the northernmost distillery on the Scottish mainland, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is the distillery's first release with an age statement, and it appeared for the distillery's tenth anniversary. The whisky spent the full ten years in carefully chosen second-fill Oloroso sherry casks. The nose combines gentle sherry sweetness with figs, dark chocolate and raisins, with vanilla and oak behind. On the palate come dark chocolate and dark fruit, caramel and vanilla, then nutmeg and oak smoke. The finish blends sherry, oak and a mild sweetness that lingers.
