Wolfburn – 10 Year Old Sherry Casks (70cl, 46%)

Wolfburn 10 Year Old is a single malt from the Wolfburn distillery in Thurso, on Scotland's north coast. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtration or added colouring. The whisky spends its full ten years in second-fill Oloroso sherry casks, so the sherry shapes the whole maturation rather than a finish. It was Wolfburn's first age-stated edition to join the permanent range. The nose has figs and raisins with gentle sherry sweetness, and fine touches of vanilla and oak. The palate leads with chocolate and dark fruit, with caramel, vanilla, and subtle nutmeg and wood smoke. Silky tannins give the finish its texture, and a lingering sweetness carries dried fruit and caramel.
