Wolfburn Aurora is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky in a 750ml bottle, bottled at 46% without chill filtration or added colour. It carries no age statement.
Aurora is vatted from three kinds of cask: 40% second-fill quarter casks that were custom re-coopered, 40% first-fill ex-bourbon barrels and 20% first-fill Oloroso sherry hogsheads. It comes from Wolfburn in Thurso, Caithness, where distilling began in 2013.
The nose opens with sherry sweetness, fresh-cut grass and autumn fruits, with coffee, dark chocolate and raw almonds behind. The palate brings raisins, florals and melon, then vanilla, spice and nutty fruit. The finish is warm and soft, with rancio and baking spice.
