Wolfburn – Langskip (70cl, 58%)

Wolfburn Langskip is a single malt from the Wolfburn distillery in Thurso, in the Scottish Highlands, bottled at 58% in a 70cl bottle. It is made from unpeated spirit and matured entirely in first-fill bourbon barrels. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring. The name is the Norse word for longship, a nod to the Vikings who once sailed the Caithness coast. The nose combines fruit blossom, dried apple and light oak, with raisins, dates and rich fruit cake behind. The palate is intense and sweet, with maple syrup, dark chocolate, almonds and raisins. The finish is long, with soft vanilla fading to a warming touch of caramel.
