World Whiskey Society Goalong 5 Year Old is a Chinese single malt, matured for five years in ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 40% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It comes from the Goalong Distillery in Changsha, Hunan.
The mash is 100% Australian malted barley, fermented for 72 hours and triple-distilled in kettle stills. The World Whiskey Society, founded in 2020, released it as a limited bottling.
The nose shows honey, sweet malt, jam and raisins with a soft floral note. The palate is soft and clean, with vanilla, toffee apple and sweet fruit over gentle spice. The finish is medium, with light fruit and a wisp of smoke.
