Yamazaki Distiller's Reserve is a Japanese single malt in a 70cl bottle, released in the spring of 2014. It is a blend of several Yamazaki whiskies, made from whisky aged for under 10 years.
The maturation uses French Bordeaux wine casks and sherry casks, as is usual for Suntory malts. This bottling also contains malt matured in mizunara casks, and the mizunara wood brings the spiciness associated with Japanese whisky.
It is described as a sweet, easy-drinking malt with added complexity from the casks.
