Yuza 1st Edition is the first single malt bottling from Yuza Distillery, founded in 2018 on the coast of Yamagata Prefecture in Japan. It is bottled at 61% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky was distilled in small copper pot stills and aged in ex-bourbon and sherry casks. It is non-chill filtered and of natural colour.
The nose shows green apple, pear, honey and vanilla cream with a touch of sea breeze. The palate has orchard fruit, white chocolate, barley malt and citrus zest, and the finish is long and clean, with sweetness, minerality and a hint of coastal salt.
