The Second Edition 2022 from Yuza Distillery in Yamagata, Japan, is a single malt vatted from whiskies of the distillery's first production season, filled into casks between February and July 2019. Bourbon and sherry casks were among those used. It was bottled at a natural cask strength of 62% ABV, without chill-filtration or added colouring, and released in a limited quantity in early October 2022.
Its fruity character draws on the autumn harvest in Yamagata's orchard country.
The nose has peach and apple with a note of yoghurt. On the palate, figs and apricots play sweet against sour, with light oak and a medium body. The finish holds a fruity sweetness, with sherry-like tannins and woody tones.
