This is a peated single malt from the Glasgow distillery, bottled at 55.3% ABV. It was chosen by Mac Y to mark the company's 25th anniversary.
The whisky matured in ex-bourbon casks and then received a finish in Ruby Port casks, which adds a vinous note to the strong peated spirit.
The nose is sweet peat smoke with rich chocolate cake, freshly planed oak, rolling tobacco and grated leather. The palate is smooth and rich, with strawberry and raspberry leading to shortcake and cocoa. The finish is long and complex, with smoky barbecue sauce and dried dark fruit.
