This is a 16 year old Aberfeldy single malt from the Highlands, released as part of the distillery's duty free range. It is bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky spent around 15 years in ex-bourbon American oak, then was finished for over a year in Malmsey and Bual Madeira wine casks. Aberfeldy was opened in 1898 by John Dewar and Sons on the banks of the River Tay.
The nose is honeyed and citrusy, with soft spices and orchard fruits. Baked apple, cinnamon, allspice and vanilla oak lead the palate. The finish is long, with stewed apples, warm honey and cinnamon.
