This is a 31-year-old Highland single malt from Aberfeldy, distilled in 1991 and bottled by Gordon & MacPhail in its Connoisseurs Choice series. It comes in a wooden box, in a 70cl bottle at a cask strength of 60%.
The whisky matured throughout in a first-fill sherry butt. It is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
The nose is sweet vanilla and honey with a touch of citrus and oak, plus cooked raisins and spice of cloves, cinnamon and cardamom. The palate is full-bodied, balancing dried fruit, spice and light caramel. The finish is long and warming, with gentle sweetness, ripe apples and a little vanilla.
