Abingdon Distillery – Single Malt English Whisky, Inaugural Release (70cl)

This is the first release of English single malt whisky from Abingdon Distillery, in a 70cl bottle. It was aged in a combination of ex-bourbon casks and red wine casks from Château Margaux, and only 500 bottles were made. The barley is entirely English and was floor-malted, then fermented for eight days in open wooden washbacks using two specific yeast strains. The whisky was aged on site at the distillery for just over three years. The nose offers dark chocolate, stewed plums, black cherry and honey. On the palate there are Smarties, tart raspberry, malted milk biscuits and vanilla.
