Adelphi Glen Elgin 2009 is a 16-year-old Speyside single malt from a single refill oloroso sherry hogshead, cask #806924. It was distilled in 2009 and bottled in 2026 at 57.1%.
Glen Elgin still condenses its vapours in worm tubs, copper coils set in cold water. Here the rich distillate picks up kirsch, cherry and Christmas spice from the oloroso, with noticeable tannins on the finish.
The nose is fruity and deep, with wet stones, kirsch, black tea and maraschino cherries. The palate is spicy, with mulled wine, clove, star anise, nutmeg, cranberry, roasted pineapple and rosemary. The finish is rich and balanced, with good length.
