Akashi x Hanahato Single Malt 5 Year Old Kijoshu Cask (50cl, 62%)

This is a five-year-old Japanese single malt from Akashi, a single cask bottling made with the sake brewer Hanahato and bottled in 2019 at a cask strength of 62%. It is non-chill-filtered and non-coloured, in a 50cl bottle, with 372 bottles produced. The whisky spent its first 3 years in American white oak casks, then a year in a kijoshu cask from Hanahato. Kijoshu is a sweeter style of sake, and Hanahato was the first Japanese premium sake maker to produce a top-quality sweeter sake, in the 1970s.
