Akkeshi Lidong Single Malt Whisky

Akkeshi Lidong is a single malt from the Akkeshi Distillery on the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido. It belongs to the distillery's 24 Solar Terms series, based on the traditional Japanese calendar that divides the year into 24 seasons. Lidong means "Winter Begins", and this release came out towards the end of 2021. The label's colourful palette commemorates Chitose candy, a local sweet eaten around this time of year. The whisky is smooth and moreish, with red berries, candied citrus peel, sweet honey and gentle spices lingering in the background.
