Shunbun is a single malt Japanese whisky from Akkeshi Distillery, released in 2026. It is the 22nd expression in the distillery's 24 Solar Terms series and belongs to the final chapter of that collection. The theme is spring, with budding cherry blossoms as the inspiration.
Much of the spirit comes from Hokkaido-grown malted barley, and the malt is also said to include whisky matured in casks made from Hokkaido-grown Mizunara oak.
The nose offers sakura mochi, white peach compote, lemon soda and marmalade toast. Orange sorbet, lemon icing cookies and ramune jelly lead the palate, and the finish has lemon and lime peel, dark chocolate and wasanbon sugar.
