Akkeshi "Soko" Blended Whisky 2024 is a limited release from Akkeshi Distillery on the eastern coast of Hokkaido, Japan. It blends malt and grain whiskies matured in a variety of casks. The name means "foundation" in Japanese, and it is a core expression of the distillery's style.
The nose is maritime and earthy, with sea salt, seaweed and peat smoke. The palate brings ripe fruit, honey and a subtle smokiness, and the finish is long, with a coastal freshness.
