Akkeshi – Taisho Blended Japanese Whisky 2022 Bottling (70cl, 48%)

Akkeshi Taisho is a blended Japanese whisky from the Akkeshi distillery in Hokkaido, bottled in 2022 at 48% in a 70cl bottle. Nine components make up the blend. The malt is entirely from Hokkaido and was aged in a variety of casks, including Mizunara and Bourbon, alongside imported grain bought as new make and matured in-house. The name comes from Taisho, the twelfth of the 24 Japanese solar terms, a hot period of festivals and fireworks. The indigo label is inspired by the yukata, the light summer kimono. Fresh, savoury, saline peat leads, with spun sugar and tropical fruit behind it. In the mouth come deep citrus, burnt sage and green almond. The finish is spicy, salty and long.
