This is a 23-year-old single malt from Allt-a-Bhainne, bottled as The Octave. It has the colour of old Sauternes.
The nose offers red and green apples and gooseberries, with barley flour pancakes and maple syrup. The palate is sweet but firm, with caramel fudge, marzipan and hints of citrus, and a rounder, sweeter barley note. The finish turns slightly drier, with white pepper and more pronounced citrus.
