Amaro Quaglia 1890 Classico (70cl)

An amaro from Piedmont made by Distilleria Quaglia from a recipe dating to the late nineteenth century, using alpine herbs and local roots. The nose shows gentian, rhubarb, orange and clove. On the palate it is soft and velvety, with a sweet entry that slowly gives way to a pleasant persistent bitterness, and a long, complex finish with balsamic notes. Traditionally served as a digestif, it can also be used in cocktails. Serve cold, perhaps with a lemon peel.
