Ampersand Malus is an American rye whiskey from Ampersand Distilling, bottled at 46% ABV. It is built on a 51% rye base and finished in Calvados casks from Normandy, and each component has been aged for at least eight years.
The nose is orchard fruit, with apple, pear and apple peel over peppery, clove-like rye. On the palate, baked apple, cider and apple brandy sweetness meet black pepper and allspice, with oak and vanilla in the background. The finish is medium to long, with orchard fruit and lingering spice.
