Amrut Ex-Bourbon French Connections is a single cask single malt from the Amrut distillery in Bangalore, India, bottled at 60% ABV as a 2021 release.
It was matured in a bourbon cask and has taken on a tile-red colour. Amrut was founded in 1948 and first sold its single malt in 2004, on the British market. A second distillery next door opened in 2018.
The nose is slightly meaty, with bacon, citrus, malt and gingerbread, then passion fruit and saffron with time in the glass. The palate is creamy, with guava, bergamot, French toast and café au lait, and the finish is delicate, with nutmeg.
