Amrut Fusion is an Indian single malt aged five years, bottled at 50% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is lightly peated and made from two batches: about 25% of the barley is peated in Scotland, while the other 75% is dried without peat in India.
It matures for around four and a half years in new oak and ex-bourbon casks. The Indian climate speeds up maturation, so the whisky is compared to a Scotch of 12 to 15 years.
Amrut takes its name from the Sanskrit word for elixir of life, and the distillery was founded in 1948.
