An Cnoc Peatheart Batch 3 (70cl, 46%)

This is the third batch of An Cnoc Peatheart, a peated single malt from Knockdhu distillery, matured in ex-bourbon casks of American oak. It is bottled at 46%, non-chill-filtered and with no added colour. Batch 3 gives separate phenol figures: the malt is specified at 34 ppm, while the finished whisky measures 13.3 ppm. Some phenols are lost during production, so the malt figure does not describe the bottled spirit. It belongs to the Peatheart series, whose first two releases appeared in 2017 and 2020. The nose offers sweet barbecue smoke and earthy peat with honey, sweet spices and grassy notes. Peat smoke meets green apples, citrus and a little vanilla on the palate, and an oily smokiness lingers in the finish.
