This is a 20 year old Clynelish from the Highlands, bottled by Aqua Vitae as Dionysus Secret Highland, part of its Greek mythology series. It was distilled in 2000, matured in a refill hogshead and bottled in 2020 at 52.8% ABV, as cask number 01849, one of 205 bottles. It is natural colour and unchill-filtered.
The label shows the god of wine, with a leopard, a cup, grapes and ivy.
The nose offers grape fruit, biscuit, flower nectar, toast, melon gummy sweets and wood. The palate is oily, full and waxy, with roasted flour tea, sarsaparilla sweets and wood. The finish is medium-long, with cream, light smoke, a fizzy note and plum sourness.
