This is a single malt from Ardbeg on Islay, distilled in 1990 and bottled in 2001 by Gordon & MacPhail for their Connoisseurs Choice series. It was bottled at 40% ABV. The whisky matured in refill American-oak barrels, which tempers the distillery's peat. Smoke remains, alongside citrus, vanilla, soft fruit and a maritime sweetness.
