Ardbeg 25 Year Old is an Islay single malt and the oldest whisky in the distillery's core range. It is bottled at 46% ABV in a 75cl bottle, after full maturation in ex-bourbon casks that were filled during some of the distillery's darkest days.
The nose brings smoked cream, peppermint and toffee, with fennel, pine resin, distant earthy bonfires and fragrant candle wax. The palate is hot and peppery, opening into sherbet lemon, carbolic soap, tar, creamy toffee, aniseed and chilli pepper.
The finish is long and mellow, with cream, fudge and delicate antiseptic notes.
