Ardbeg Ten Years Old is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky, bottled at 46% ABV in a 750ml bottle. It is non-chill-filtered, which keeps body and depth in the glass.
The distillery describes it as the peatiest and smokiest of single malts, with the peat giving way to the natural sweetness of the malt.
The nose combines peat smoke with lemon, lime and waxy dark chocolate, then menthol, black pepper, tar and smoked fish. On the palate, peat meets lemon and lime juice, cinnamon-spiced toffee, brine, banana and currants, finishing with espresso, liquorice and tarry smoke. The finish is long and smoky, with espresso, aniseed, toasted almonds and a trace of pear.
